Project Overview
The Box Regent is a swipe-based puzzle game where players navigate sliding box mechanics through intricate mazes. Each level introduces new challenges—dead ends, electric bars, and dynamic obstacles—requiring strategic movement and quick thinking. Set against immersive concept art crafted by Ben Adaji, the game combines visual storytelling with mental agility.
The primary objectives of this redesign were:
To enhance gameplay usability through an intuitive interface.
To improve performance and responsiveness across devices.
To elevate the visual experience while staying true to the game’s artistic direction.
Our Approach
We began with in-depth user research to understand how players interacted with the game:
Conducted gameplay sessions and player interviews to identify friction points.
Performed a competitive review of similar puzzle games for UX inspiration.
Analyzed heatmaps and in-game behavior to refine level design and UI flow.
Based on these insights, we delivered:
A streamlined UI with clearer level navigation and intuitive gesture feedback.
Optimized game mechanics to reduce lag and ensure smooth swiping across devices.
Enhanced visual storytelling, integrating Ben Adaji’s artwork more dynamically throughout gameplay.
The Results
60% increase in level completion rates, driven by improved controls and UI clarity.
40% reduction in bounce rate, as players spent more time immersed in the game.
Positive player feedback praising both the visual style and fluid gameplay experience.
